HEART OF HOSPICE
The Bridges "Heart of Hospice" award is an honor given to an individual within our organization who demonstrates exceptional compassion, care, and dedication to their patients and families. This individual often goes above and beyond their role to provide comfort and support during difficult or challenging times. Their constant display of empathy with patients and loved ones sets them apart. They represent our organization positively within the community. Their work reflects Bridges core values of compassion, commitment, integrity, and teamwork. He/she always exemplifies the Bridges Way. This award is open to various hospice staff members, including nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, and administrative/support personnel. Our management team will nominate employees throughout the year and then vote to select one employee who will receive the “Heart of Hospice” award. This award will be presented at the February staff meeting annually.

Amy Angotti, RN 2024
What Amy's team feels about why she received the award:
When I was a nurse in the field with a caseload of 20+ patients, Amy helped me weekly. I was able to get to know her, work alongside her and gain so much knowledge from her. She was truly a godsent and a team player, always checking in to see what she could do, how she could help or give one of her amazing hugs on a tough day. As we all know it's sometimes hard to allow others to care for our patients as we develop such a special bond with each and every one of them. However, with Amy, I never had to question or worry as I knew that my patients were taken care of. I knew this because when I would visit my patients, them and/or their families would tell me how wonderful of a visit they had with her, how kind, compassionate and gentle she was. They spoke of her singing with their loved one and listening to them tell stories and reminisce about life and they were looking forward to her next visit. Amy has a unique way of connecting with people and meeting them where they are. Amy not only cares about our patients, but she truly cares about her co-workers and is the epidemy of a team player and hospice done right. I feel honored to be able to work alongside her and call her a friend.
Amy makes a difference in the lives of any patient she visits. She is caring, compassionate and gives the best quality of care. She walks in wearing an invisible halo and I couldn't be prouder to be her coworker, friend, and her adopted daughter. Throughout the many years of working together in hospice she is always there to guide me, answer any questions and tell me not to second guess myself. Amy was truly meant to be in this field of nursing. Her patients light up when they see her face. I have witnessed through the many years of working with Amy the impact she has made on many patients and family with her exception care. She always goes above and beyond and is truly an angel!!
When I started HOSPICE four years ago, Amy was the first nurse. I was with for training so essentially my intro to HOSPICE. I remember being so nervous the morning I was meeting her. When I got out of my car and walked over to introduce myself, she gave me one of her famous hugs! She immediately put me at ease and I knew then we would become friends. she's the kind of person that just feels good to be around. Seeing Amy with patients and their families set the stage for the hospice nurse I would become. She has had such an impact on my life that I'm sure she is unaware she even made! To know Amy is to love her! Her and I both go wherever we are needed for work and I can't count how many times patients and/or families Have asked "do you know Amy" , then go on to say how much they love her and I get to say how much I do too! I will forever be grateful that we crossed paths, and I am honored to be able to call her a friend (and my work mom!) she truly is such a loving, caring and compassionate person! We all love you Amy!!!
Hospice, at its core, is treating others the way that you would want yourself to be treated - the golden rule. Amy exemplifies this and is a shining example of what it means to not only be an excellent nurse, but a downright incredible individual. Though I have only been with the company a year - the amount of times Amy has personally brightened my day alone, is countless. From her bearhugs, to her beautiful voice, the appreciated advice and support, detailed and honest communication, megawatt smile and go getter attitude - Amy's heart is always in it.
Amy. Everyone already knows you are a great nurse, great team player and are always there to support and care for your patients their family members and even the staff at facilities. Everyone also knows you are always there to give a hug when one is needed. But not many know about the kisses you give to a cranky patients forehead just to try to get the to crack the littlest bit of a smile. We have worked together for a while now know that I appreciate you always willing to hop in and scrub a dirty bum or stinky armpit. You've sang with patients prayed with patients dressed up as Mrs clause and taken pictures with patients. Just know that everything you do does not go unnoticed.
Where do I even begin to describe what a truly amazing person Amy is. A few words come to me immediately Compassionate, Loving , Strong in Faith, Nurse extraordinaire, Best Friend and Sister/friend . A Hospice Heart she does have and it's HUGE . You can be assured that when Amy sees your patients, they are well cared for Loved and Probably Sung to lol. One thing her patients will never be is impacted and if you know Amy you know lol. Hospice is her calling; it encompasses everything that means the most to her, utilizes all her skills and talents. Best teammate!! And if she finds out you're sick don't be surprised if she is on your porch with homemade soup xoxoxo We Love you !!! Your a Blessing xo
